My Dupe That x Girlactik Contest Winnings

Well I am very hit and miss with Instagram contests in general. I can’t say I never won, I won a raffle at a Nutcracker play when I was in elementary school. And my mom wouldn’t let me open it until Christmas. That was two weeks of torture and me pocking at the Barbie that was in the package. It was a whole package inside a lil basket with a Barbie and candy and idk what else. Anyway, I do have a hit miss with IG contests. I tend to do better with a smaller pool of people and I’m ok with that.

But somehow, some fuckin how, I won the Dupe That and Girlactik  contest!!!!! Omg I don’t know how!!! I was like why am I tagged in this post? I was so lost and was just ignoring it. Then I was like omg wait, wait, wait, wait!!!! And I looked and I friggin won!!!!! What I won was their new liquid lipstick in Luxe, I was the first to receive it, and 5 other shades of my choosing. I was so excited to win this because this is a brand I’ve seen here and there. I’ve only swatched them in Duane Reade and they look so amazing especially their highlighters but girl…. I work in a low low low wage job. Idk how I afford the makeup habit I have now, and I can’t add another higher end brand to my list. They’re like in the middle of everything but I refuse to spend over $20 for a liquid lipstick. I do that enough already. These babies are $23 each and sure that’s only $3 more than $20 but honesty too much. And if I’m going to spend that much on them I need a shade range to die for. I love color and I live for it. You guys know I live in purple lipstick, purple is my red lipstick. That will never change. And I love that now we live in a makeup culture where it’s not scary to wear crazy colors anymore. I’m so comfortable rocking a green or blue or bright purple.

I’m not saying they don’t have great colors, cause they do, I’m just saying to shell out $23 I need you to wow me. So I was totally greatful to have won these and to be able to swatch these for you. I feel like this is a brand that’s not really talked about too much. So it was great to have an opportunity to share some insight on how I feel about them. And I really hope you appreciate it because my lips were crying after this. Can anyone recommend something that takes of liquid lipsticks easy and doesn’t make my lips feel like sandpaper afterwards? Thanks.

I love that it came with such a great note and this pretty pink bag. The spoke to my hoarder heart. I love shit like this.

Time to swatch away!!!!:

Devine:

Sorry my face is so oily. Totally didn’t realize to blot after I came home. This is Devine and she’s a really pretty dusty pink. I really like it, very wearable.

Playful:

Playful is another neutral type of color. It’s a brown that has some plummy undertones. Extremely wearable. I’m not into a lot of brown toned lipsticks but this is not an extremely dark brown so I really like it.

Demure:

Demure is the perfect name for this color. It’s very soft, neutral, I know I’m saying neutral a lot but that’s what they are! It’s a very toned down pink.

Stellar:

Stellar is a really nice purple like a berry purple. As you can see I love this color. Most of their colors are very neutral and this was the only purple they had so had to have it. It’s so freakin pretty and I love the color of it. I feel it’s still extremely wearable even though it’s a bold purple.

Seductive:

Seductive is more of red wine color. It’s a deep color and so perfect for fall. This is a perfect deep red.

Luxe:

Luxe is their newest shade and I was the first one to receive it. I like this shade of pink because it’s blue toned, but still not me. So I’m giving this lovely color to a friend. I’m just not a pink person.

My overall feelings is that I really do like them, and was so happy to be able to receive these. This is a brand I probably wouldn’t have tried on my own otherwise. First, the price and second, the color range. It’s a bit dull to me, I really like bolder colors and lots of purple. You can layering it as you see some have some are a little patchy. It goes on creamy and dries very matte. Don’t layer too much as it won’t flake off or crumble, but it will cake up n crack into lines of your lips. But you really don’t need to layer that much, these are pretty pigmented. They do last a while even through my messing eat. The top lip was good. Bottom lip had some some of it gone on the inner lip, but nothing crazy. Of course if you eat greasy or really oily food it varies. It is for the most part transfer proof but I noticed when you eat that changes because of the grease and oils. These were pretty difficult to take off with a makeup wipe omg. Like wow. I thought I was gunna rip my lip off or something. My lips were so angry. So damn angry.

But overall these are pretty awesome. I am so happy to receive these and be able to try this brand. I hoped this you guys out even just a little. Thanks for reading and stay purple!

September- Medusa’s Makeup Monthly

I was so excited to receive the second Medusa’s Makeup monthly box. The first was one was fun and all things I’ve never tried. This month I was so excited to see my mailer because it was purple! Y’all know that’s my color that is my entire life. And this is so perfect for a hoarder. I’m totally keeping all these mailers btw. Anyway, I really really liked this months because it definitely got me something I’ve been wanting to try out for awhile. Score! I shall jump right into what you should be expecting. I have no clue as to if everyone receives something different or just different colors of the same thing. Idk I’ll keep ya posted.

September monthly:

1. Eye Dust in Lemonade- $7:

Been loving the eye dust, as I am practicing working with pigments. This one is Lemonade which is a super bright yellow. But I noticed that if you use a light hand and blend out good, it can make a good inner corner or brow highlight. You have to be careful with these, there is no sifter and they’re filled to the top.
2. Brush cleaner- $8:

The brush cleaner is vegan made with algae extract. It smells so good and soapy, thick formula. It is pretty small, .67 oz. I like the top so you have control over how much you’re using. I’m excited to get this because I’m excited to try any brush cleaner. I have used regular soap to actual brush soap. So I’m obsessed with trying new ones.

3. Shadow brush- They don’t sell them as singles, as far as I can tell, so a set of 4 brushes is $24. So we’ll divide $24 by 4 and say $6:

They have recently changed their brushes, these are vegan. I got their old set since it was on sale. These bristles are definitely much more soft and fluffy.

This is a comparison of their old shadow brush to their new one. You can definitely see a great difference in bristles and softness. I’m happy to get one to try out the new brushes.

4. Body shimmer in Healthy- $12:

This is their body shimmer/highlight in Healthy. I was extremely happy to get this because I really wanted to try this one. They just recently changed their blushes and made highlighters and bronzers in compacts. I have two other blushes and they were in loose powder. It was really hard for me to work with especially when I was beginner and exploring makeup. My face was 3/4 blush lol.

This is Healthy compared to their highlighter Moonlight. Healthy is in top. I’m like omg I almost forgot how amazing this highlight was! I like Healthy because I love those pinky type duochrome highlights and Moonlight literally looks like Moonlight. I did look on their site today and I see they are no longer selling it in a compact but loose. I wonder why. I’m happy I got it in a compact first. I just love working with pressed powder, I just find it so much easier. But I am trying to work loose products. Lemme know if you guys have any tips on working with loose products, love any and all tips. And I have looked at tons of of YouTube videos but they make it all look too easy. I need someone that’s been struggling like me.

Well, that’s all the products in this September’s beauty box and I just say I love everything. So excited to try so many new things and things I’ve been wanting for long time.

This months grand total is $31! I think it’s pretty worth it for spending only $16.

Hope this helped you guys out and thanks for reading. Stay purple!

Daffodil- Hard Candy Velvet Mousse matte lip color

I received Hard Candy Velvet Mousse in a friend mail from my makeup bestie Yali. It’s so hard for me to get my hands on certain Hard Candy products because the colors are never in stock online and there’s no Walmart on Staten Island. You have to go to Jersey and I don’t drive so fuck me. It just sucks lol. Anyway, I got the shade Daffodil and it is such a strange nude color. It has a very yellow undertone and it reminds me of my skin tone and also the shade Honey Blonde from LA Splash. So this may be a cheaper alternative.

As always let’s get right on into some swatches and my overall thoughts.

Daffodil:

Daffodil is a strange nude in that it is very yellow and not nuetral or pink toned like most. It really is a nice honey color and I think most can fill it off.

I love the container it comes in. Not practical to store but I love the mirror on the inside. You can pop the whole thing in your bag and be straight. Like I die if I don’t have a mirror when I go out. I also like the smell of it, it’s pretty sweet. The wand is long and flat. I don’t mind when applying formulas that are easy to work with. The formula is, it is as it says a velvet mousse. It kind of reminds me of Colour Pop’s Ultra Satin formula, but the ones that are more drying. There some of them that are more drying than others. So this formula doesn’t dry down completely, which I don’t hate. It feels light and completely comfortable. The color is transferable, but it’s also not leaving your lips any time too soon. It’s matte so it does have that put me here and I’m not moving quality. I overall really like it and hoping to get my hands on some more. This is really perfect for those who don’t like the fully drying and comfortable liquid lipsticks.

So hope this has helped you guys out. I hear that they have new metallic shades. Lemme know if you have any and how you like them. Thanks for reading and stay purple!

Penny- Lime Crime Perlees

I finally got my hands on one of the Lime Crime Perlees. These are foiled lipsticks to the enth degree. She’s getting rid of the Unicorn Lipsticks 😭😭😭 Whatever few that’s left that’s it. I had to get a back up of Airborne Unicorn, that’s my first purple lipstick and so perfect. Anyway, now she came out with the Perlees and they’re just as amazing.

They really got me with the amazing packaging. It has floral print all over it and it’s so grungy girl, I totally love it. I finally bought one off of Haute Look and I’m so happy I finally did. I will show you the swatches and tell how I feel.

Penny:

This is Penny and she is fuckin awesome. It’s a really bright copper and is so freakin pigmented. Literally like one swipe and all the color is, BAM! On your lips. Like you can layer but you really don’t have to at all. It’s so amazing and it’s so crazy pigmented this really is.

I honestly have no problem with the Perless besides the fact that I need to own more! How have I been so sleep on them for so long??? When I tell you the pigmentation is instant, no fighting the color to what you want it to look like, it’s just there. It’s so comfortable on. I really can’t say anymore how much I love them. I just loves them!!

Hope this has helped you guys out, thanks for reading. As always stay purple.

Katy Perry x Covergirl: Lipsticks and Mascara

If anyone knows anything, they know I have some weird random love for Katy Perry. Even though I’m not a total pop princess and the Deftones soothe my soul most days, I do also love being a Firework or a Dark Horse. She’s a girl after my own heart when it comes to style and hair colors. Her perfumes actually smell amazing. I have four of them and I’m desperately trying to get my hands on the Killer Queen purple version. She has been one of the many spokesmodel for Covergirl, so when I found out she had lipsticks, forget it! Plus a blue mascara?!!?!? Most drugstores don’t do blue mascara and if you see my old Facebook photos, don’t, I lived in blue mascara. We were best friends. I’m pretty much obsessed with any colored mascara.

Anyway I had to totally get my hands on the Katy Kat Matte lipsticks and Katy Kat Eye mascara. And I love anything matte totally obssesed with matte lipsticks. But let’s jump right into swathes and reviews.

Katy Kat Eye:

I don’t know you can see this mascara at all. I was so disappointed with this because drugstore brands hardly carry blue mascara. And I am obssesed with blue mascara, especially back in the day. I wore it all the time. So I kind of consider myself an expert on the pigmentation of blue mascara. I even bought the Dior show one for $25, and lemme tell you, it was totally worth it. Now the Katy Kat Eye….. So disappointed. Pigmentation so dull. Like it’s faintly there. I feel like if you look really close you can see a hint of it, not really and then I think the color just fades down to black the longer you wear it. It’s not what I was expecting at all. I like my blue mascaras to be really bright and vibrant, or at least noticeable. This on you can’t even notice it at all. You need a damn microscope. But I believe this was probably made with tweens and teens in mind. Like I know my mother didn’t approve of half my makeup choices in hs, never let it stop you for making your wings look like Amy Winehouse. So I can understand that but and then again I can’t because I know how I like my blue mascaras to be. And I’ve even tried it again without any makeup or anything to see if it was just me but no, still no color. The mascara itself I have no problem with. Totally separates and curls ok. Nothing to really be wow about but it works. Just wish the color would come through. I think if parents were kept in mind with making it the they should’ve made different variations of blue or something.

Katy Kat Matte:

Sphynx:

Sphynx is like my perfect nude color. It’s more on the warm side so it’s not too stark against my yellow skin tone. I love that they have the Katy Kat ears on the bottom where the name is, so freakin cute.

Catoure:

Catoure is another pretty nude color. I really love these types of nudes because they’re just not a flat peach shade. This is a warm color that’s a light brownish red. Love these type of tones.

Kurt Purry:

Kitty Purry is a nice neutral pink. I like this pink because it’s not overbearing and wearable. I’m not a pink person so me and pinks are very iffy. But I like this one.

Cosmo Kitty:

Cosmo Kitty is a neon purple. I was just so happy that drugstore brand finally made a bright purple lipstick. Like gimmie color guys. Gimmie some color. But this color is really weird, it stains pink because I don’t know if you can see in some of the pictures, it has a like a fuchsia undertone to it. It kinda bleeds pink underneath and stains a lot. It’s such a strange formulation of color to me. Idk if it’s just me being weird or what.

Maroon Meow:

Maroon Meow is a really pretty dark red. I’m picky with my reds as well so I love this darker red color.

Perry Panther:

Perry Panther is solid black. The first lip swatch is to show you the color pay off in one swipe. It’s not that great, it’s grey on the first layer, so you have to build it up to get it that solid black.

My overall review, also disappointed. I’m happy about the color range but not about the actual product. What I did love about was the colors, the packaging. I love all white or all black packaging. It just looks very clean to me and I love the block lettering on it. It’s very pop art and clean to me. Just looks so cute with the pop of color on the end. Love the square packaging as Covergirl does square lipsticks. However, do not advertise a lipstick as matte when it’s as far from as you can get. And I love, live for matte lipsticks so very disappointed about that. Sure yeah I can make it work but I really don’t want to if that’s what it says it was to begin with. These are cream lipsticks and I just feel like they bleed a lot and the weird staining/under layer of color with Cosmo Kitty idk. And Maroon Meow and Purry Panther are more streaky and need to built up in color payoff more than the others. I still will wear them just really don’t completely false advertise a lipstick  texture and have the formula not be 100% on all colors.

I’m not saying not to buy them and that they’re not good. They’re still great lipsticks, I just don’t like things to be misrepresented. I just hope that if they come out with more they’re actually matte and for the formula to be less creamy to allow better pigmentation. I really love the colors and that they look good on different undertones and skin tones.

Hope this has helped you guys out. Thanks so much for reading, and stay purple!
